The Guardian
The Guardian is coming to the US according to “En Guardian!” in New York mag (via Random Notes).
The Guardian was the paper we would buy on Sunday and spend the day reading spread round the living room when I lived in Athens (ten years ago — ouch). I remember discussing it with my British friend, Kathy, who introduced me to it. Even the typography was impressive to me at a time when I didn’t consciously pay attention to such things.
“And now there’s the prospect of a genuine, old-fashioned, hire-some-good-writers-and-give-them-space-to-write, rough-up-the-president-and-the-nabobs magazine,” Michael Wolff writes. Will be interesting to see what happens.
